(WTNH)– A new challenge is starting to sweep the internet, just like the “Ice Buket Challenge” for ALS that was seen all over social media last year.RELATED: “Ice Bucket Challenge” videos fuel “major breakthrough” in fight against ALS
According to Fox 17 news, Nate Koehn, who served in the U.S. Army form 12 years, launched the 22 Veterans Daily Challenge.
“I started thinking to myself, what can I do here in Michigan to kind of get the word out. I started the challenge… but just with push ups. If you’re challenged, just like the ice bucket challenge, you have 22 hours,” explained Koehn. “One hour for every veteran that falls victim to suicide every day…film yourself doing it, post it online, everyone likes to see.”
The 22Kill website states that their goal is to reach 22 Million push ups to honor those who serve and to raise awareness for veteran suicide prevention through education and empowerment.
Every push up counts and you can choose how many you do in a row, whether it’s 1 or 100.
Here are the rules listed on the website of completing the challenge:
- Record a video of yourself doing the push ups stating your name and why you are pushing of who you are pushing for.
- Upload the video via Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, or Instagram
- Add the hashtags “#” in your post. (#5pushups for #22kill)
- Post it!

Day 12 of 22 I Evander Burrell, am pushing in an attempt to raise awareness on the fact that 22 AMERICAN VETERANS will commit suicide today. Today I’m challenging my boy Tony Tucker…you accept, copy & paste this to each video. Everyone has a purpose. Spread the word that Veteran suicide is NOT the answer. Another video will be posted each day for the next 22 days each with someone new being challenged. Video or photograph yourself. Let’s celebrate life everlasting! Post video/photo to Facebook and other social media using the hashtags Tally your push ups (i.e. A group of 4 people in a video doing push ups would be #88pushups for #22kill) Call out your family, friends, battle buddies, the POTUS, the sky’s the limit. The goal is to raise awareness for our service members who are battling this demon. #22pushups for #22kill #22done #hooyah #hoorah #hooah #theartist #prince #purplerain Www.honorcouragecommitment.org
