Attorney General George Jepsen plans to investigate opioid manufacturers

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)–The opioid crisis was a key topic of conversation in Connecticut on Friday, as Attorney General George Jepsen led a group of attorneys general from across the country to fight prescription opioid abuse.

In letters sent to 15 top healthcare companies, guidelines are spelled out hoping that the companies will adopt them to get a hold of this crisis, and curb prescribing opioids.

The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is projecting that by the end of the year, more than 1,000 people will die of opioid-related overdoses.
