Blessing ceremony held for new Holy Land gate in Waterbury

While the world is celebrating Holy Week, Waterbury is also celebrating upgrades to Holy Land.

A blessing ceremony took place on Wednesday morning for a new gate at Holy Land U.S.A’s entrance.

This upgrade is part of the revival of the park.

“It’s been a long time coming. The last gate was built in 1955. Over the last month new concrete and a new gate was installed. It’s a new entry into the Holy City, the Holy Land of Waterbury,” said Father Jim Sullivan, Director of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

In addition to the new gate, roads have been repaved, the hilltop landscaped, and biblical scenes are being restored.
It’s all in anticipation of the second annual Mountain Top Mass on Sunday, April 28th.
