Business networking event teaches value of face-to-face interaction

News

An event that’s bringing together thousands of people from the business community is being held on Thursday.

It’s known as the Big Connect.

This is all being put on by the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, and it’s essentially a business-networking event.

In addition to that, there’s “The Big Taste.” You have a number of restaurants from the New Haven area and people are able to sample various foods and try what all those restaurants have to offer.

The Big Connect is geared towards the business community. The expo is just for Thursday and draws thousands of people.

There are keynote speakers, presentations, a bunch of different workshops and a women’s power panel. News 8’s Laura Hutchinson will be speaking at that.

The one theme that’s really centered around everything there is face-to-face interaction.

“Face-to-face connection still really does matter meeting with a business partner, with a customer or supplier. It’s all of our speakers learning from different industries… That you can apply it to your own business,” Garrett Sheehan with the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce.

And, as we know, many businesses specifically small businesses are really the backbone of our communities, so their success certainly benefits all of us.

The event runs until 6:00 p.m.
