Capitol Report: Hayes makes history with election victory

Jahana Hayes is going to Washington.

The first-time candidate will be the first black woman from the state elected to service in the United States Congress.

The former National Teacher of the Year defeated Republican Manny Santos to win the 5th Congressional District.

Also, Connecticut’s Junior Senator Chris Murphy is going back to D.C. for another six years.

Murphy defeated Republican Matthew Corey by a nearly 20-point margin.
