Celebrate National Hot Dog Day at the Glenwood Drive-In

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Hot dogs is a barbecue classic, synonymous with baseball games and Fourth of July cookouts, and the Glenwood Drive-In in Hamden has become a famous hot spot for hot dog lovers in Connecticut.

Glenwood Drive-In has been a mainstay for frankfurter fans for over 57 years, famous for their hot dog and a spicy relish that they make themselves. They are also known for a split hot dog.

“We get quite a few people in here and they want a split hod dog,” Wayne Stone, current owner and son of original founder Rocky Stone, said. “The split dog is, first of all we have a casing hot dog. But you split it. You run it down, split it. It cooks it in two halves.”

The Glenwood Drive-In is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is located at 2538 Whitney Ave., in Hamden.
