Clinton Police Department receives over $3,000 in donation

The Clinton Police Department recently received a $3,200 donation from Saldamarco’s Deli.

The money was raised earlier in the spring as part of a fundraiser for the police department‘s newest community service program, “R.A.D.” (Rape Aggression Defense). The program teaches women self-defense strategies and techniques to protect themselves in case of a physical attack.

50% of all profits made on May 2nd and 3rd were donated to the program, according to the deli’s Facebook page.

The donation money was used to help pay for the protective gear used in R.A.D.’s hands-on training.

So far, the police department has conducted two classes and there are several future classes being planned. The R.A.D sessions consist of four classes each and are free and open to all Clinton residents, according to the Clinton Police Department’s Facebook page.

Anyone who would like to learn more about the classes can email Officer Matakaetis at for more information.
