Connecticut Attorney General backs proposed federal rules to fight robocalls


Connecticut Attorney General William Tong is backing proposed federal rules to fight robocalls.

Tong is one of 43 attorneys general supporting the proposal to crackdown on ‘caller ID spoofing.’ That’s when scammers manipulate caller ID to fool people about their name and number.

The rules would let the FCC fight scammers outside the country and scammers using alternative services.

It would also broaden the authority to hold scammers accountable.
