Connecticut casinos trying to fight competition

News

(WTNH/AP)– Leaders of Connecticut’s Mohegan and Foxwoods casinos are trying to figure out a way to stay competitive, as Massachusetts gets set to build a new casino.

The president of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority says a joint casino venture proposed with rival Foxwoods will likely take business from the two casinos, but it’s preferable to losing business to Massachusetts.

The president of the parent company of the Mohegan Sun casino said with the right investment, Connecticut casinos will avoid losing thousands of jobs.

The two casinos are pushing state legislation authorizing up to three casinos to better compete with Massachusetts.
