Connecticut Dems discussing legislative priorities for new General Assembly session

In Hartford, Senate Democrats are talking about some of their legislative priorities for the 2019 General Assembly session.

Among them is legalizing recreational marijuana.

Senator Doug McCrory (D), who represents the Hartford area, said it doesn’t make sense for something that’s being traded on Wall Street to be illegal here in Connecticut.

“So, when we pass this legislation, hopefully we can open the eyes of everyone else in Connecticut and people in other states and healing people and healing communities and moving everybody else forward,” he said.

Lawmakers also said they want to push legislation surrounding student loan forgiveness.
