Connecticut officials gather in Torrington to discuss efforts to combat opioid epidemic

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal will meet with other Connecticut officials on Wednesday to discuss what steps are being taken to combat the opioid epidemic.

Senator Blumenthal will join U.S. Rep. Jahana HayesConnecticut Attorney General William Tong, and members of the Litchfield County opioid task force to give an update on state and federal efforts to cut down on opioid-related deaths.

More than 1,000 people in Connecticut died of drug overdoses in 2017 and 2018. 

Talks will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the McCall Behavioral Health Center in Torrington.
