A New Haven-based company is diversifying the craft beer industry.

Friday was the second day of canning for “Rythm Lager,” which is known as the first African-American woman-owned beer company in Connecticut.

The canning process was done at Overshores Brewing in East Haven

” We want to see more women canning. We want to see more women getting brands out, having their stories, their ingredients told through their product,” said owner Alisa Bowens-Mercadl. “It’s amazing to really be involved in this industry.”

The beer is an American-style lager.
