New information about a bill to provide health coverage to more Vietnam Navy veterans suffering from the affects of ‘Agent Orange.’
That bill looks to be dead in the senate.
Ninety-thousand veterans were exposed to the toxic chemical that takes leaves off trees while serving off the Vietnam coast.
They’re not automatically eligible for Agent Orange benefits like land-based troops.
Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal says he’ll keep fighting to get them those benefits.
“I can pledge to you if we fail to do it this session, we will be back again next session. The cost to our conscience, if not our budget, will rise in the meantime.”
The House had passed the bill earlier this month, but the VA Secretary opposes it because of high costs.
