Celebrating Connecticut’s Moms: Meet Nancy Robustelli of East Haven

Connecticut

Mother’s Day is Sunday, so, we turned to you to help us honor some of Connecticut’s wonderful moms.

We asked viewers to submit letters, explaining what makes their moms so special and we really received some heartfelt testimonials.

Today, meet Joanna Robustelli, honoring her mom, Nancy, of East Haven.

I have so many reasons why my mom is the best mom but the most important reason is, my mom – Nancy Robustelli – is an immigrant who came from Italy, learned to speak English and raised my sister and I as a single mom because my Dad, her love of her life, had passed at age 36.

I was 8 and my sister 6.

She worked in a factory – and still does.  She kept a roof over us and never once complained even though we knew she was tired.

She gave us or tried to give us everything we needed. Never asked for help. My mom has now become a grandmother to an energetic little boy Antonio (named after my dad) and manages to work and spend time with her grandson.

She has raised us to be hard workers and to show respect. For that, I think – well, actually I know – she is the best mom!

Thank you, Mom, for all you are and all you do.  Happy Mother’s Day…I love you.

Our last Celebrating Moms segment airs Sunday between 6:00am and 8:00am on News 8.
