Cigna threatens to leave state if public option healthcare bill passes, proposal now dead


A public option healthcare bill appears to be dead Wednesday evening after insurance carrier Cigna threatened to leave the state if it passed, according to the Hartford Courant.

Governor Ned Lamont released a statement on Wednesday saying:

“I remain committed to the Connecticut option but understand that for legislation of this magnitude to be successful, the proposal must leverage the best thinking from all stakeholders, including the carriers.”
