Connecticut Fire Academy issues safety reminder after 11 are killed in blazes since end of February

11 people have been killed in eight fires across the state since the end of February.

The Connecticut Fire Academy has a reminder about fire safety rules in your home.

Check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Also, check if elderly relatives and neighbors have working alarms.

Have an escape plan with a meeting place and practice it.

Each room in your house should have two ways out.

Once you get out, do not go back in.

Have your entire heating system checked every year and be extra careful about smoking.
