Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut is the first state in the country to make all prison phone call free.

Governor Ned Lamont signed the bill into law. It could take effect as early as next month.

The state has a prison contract with a phone vendor. It charges up to $5 for a 15-minute call. Now, prisoners will get a minimum of 90 minutes a day of free calls.
