Mother, son sent to hospital following fire in East Haddam home

Connecticut

EAST HADDAM, Conn. (WTNH) — A fire sent two people to the hospital in East Haddam, early Thursday morning.

Fire officials were dispatched to 19 Triangle Drive for a reported structure fire.

Heavy damage was done to the cottage there on the Moodus Reservoir.

The cold weather and ice made it tough for firefighters to put out the flames. Fire crews also had to use tanker trucks to bring water down some of the narrow streets.

Two people, a mother and her adult son, were transported to the hospital but they are expected to be OK.

Connecticut State Police are taking over the investigation to see what caused the fire.
