EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — East Hartford fire crews were dispatched to Woodmont Drive Friday morning for a house fire.

According to the East Hartford Fire Department, the call was a second alarm fire that came in around 10:20 a.m. The fire initially started in the garage and extended to the home, dealing significant damage by the time it was put out by fire crews.
The five residents of the home got out safely. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for difficulty breathing according to the chief. He is expected to be OK.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
