23-year-old from Bridgeport wins special election, will be youngest State Representative

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) - A 23-year-old man from Bridgeport will become the youngest member of the Connecticut House of Representatives.

Antonio Felipe won a special election on Tuesday night for the 130th House District.

In a statement, Felipe said in part, "I look forward to representing everyone as a state representative. Bridgeport is my home and I promise to fight tirelessly for working-class Bridgeporters every single day at the state capitol. As a state representative, I'll advocate for a $15 minimum wage, protect a woman's right to choose, and safeguard access to affordable healthcare."

He will fill the seat left vacant after the death of Ezequiel Santiago. The 45-year-old died suddenly in March.
