Four people have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 12-year-old Bridgeport boy last week.
According to Mayor Joe Ganim‘s Office, three boys and one adult man have been arrested. Captain Brian Fitzgerald identified the adult man as 18-year-old Tajay Chambers. Chambers is expected to be arraigned in December.
Fitzgerald said Chambers was the trigger man, and fired two shots, one of them hitting 12-year-old Clinton Howell in front of his home on Willow Street in Bridgeport last Tuesday night. Chambers has been charged with:
- Murder with special circumstances
- Murder
- Use of a firearm during the commission of a felony
- Illegal possession of a firearm without a permit
- Risk of injury to a child
- Reckless endangerment
- Larceny
Chambers is already in police custody in connection with an assault in October. News 8’s affiliate partner WABC-TV reports that a judge ordered a $500,000 bond for Chambers, and ICE placed a detainer on the Jamaican immigrant who authorities say is without legal status.

In addition to Chambers, three boys, ages 12, 14, and 16, are all facing conspiracy to commit murder, carrying a pistol without a permit, and larceny charges.
At a news conference Monday afternoon, Fitzgerald said that Chambers and the three boys were riding around the city in a stolen car when they got into a verbal argument with some other people on Willow Street. The argument escalated, and Chambers fired two shots at the people on Willow Street. Police believe that 12-year-old Howell was not the intended target.
