Bridgeport man charged following series of bank and restaurant robberies

A Bridgeport man is facing charges after allegedly committing a series of bank robberies.

On Monday, a federal grand jury in New Haven returned an indictment charging 55-year-old Alvin Robertson with three counts of bank robbery and two counts of interference with commerce by robbery.

According to officials, Robertson robbed a Subway restaurant in Ridgefield, a Subway in Monroe, and three People’s United Banks in Monroe, Watertown, and Berlin, all within the past year.

The indictment was returned on Oct. 16th, 2018.

On Monday, Robertson pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He has been detained since his arrest on related state charges on Sept. 27th.
