Body cam footage released from Bridgeport memorial that escalated into protest

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) - A memorial for a Bridgeport teen, shot and killed by a police officer two years ago, ended in 10 arrests on Thursday evening.

on Friday, Bridgeport Police released a body cam video of part of the vigil that escalated into a protest.

A reporter with the Connecticut Post says she was among those detained at the event for Jayson Negron.

Tara O'Neill reports she was handcuffed, then let go when Bridgeport police realized she was a member of the media.

 

 

Ten activists were however, arrested and charged with inciting a riot, resisting arrest and breach of peace.

Police identified those arrested as: 

  • Thomas Bostian
  • Britney Brevard
  • Kerry Ellington
  • Jennia Fu
  • Kiana McDavid
  • Sam Morbidelli
  • Kacey Perkins (also arrested for disorderly conduct)
  • Sarah Pimenta
  • Brenna Regan
  • Maria Sandoval

Jayson Negron was 15-years old when he was shot and killed by a Bridgeport police officer on this day in 2017.

The officer who shot him was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing.
