Fire officials are investigating a large gas explosion and fire at a Norwalk home Tuesday morning.

The fire department says that crews responded to the gas explosion and fire at the home of 10 Deepwood Lane. Upon arrival, heavy smoke and fire were seen coming from the basement and garage area.

All the windows and doors of the home were also blown off of the house during the explosion.

According to fire officials, a man and a woman, who is 9 months pregnant, were home at the time of the incident but were able to escape from the home without injuries.

Three fire engines and two fire trucks responded to the house and brought the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

However, the home is damaged and is posted unfit for occupancy.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
