Fairfield Police warn of donation scam involving K9 unit

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH)– Fairfield Police are warning residents Wednesday about a donation scam involving their K9 unit.

The Fairfield Police Department says that officers were informed that a number of residents have received phone calls from a group claiming to be collecting funds to purchase ballistic vests for the department’s K9 unit.

Fairfield Police say they do not know what group or individual is soliciting these donations but say that the department is no way affiliated with this.

According to police, residents have reported that the caller ID from these calls has read “US K9 NY.”

Officers encourage all future contributions to the K9 unit go directly through their website at www.fpdct.com/k9.
