Connecticut police say they have recovered a gun stolen 35 years ago during a bust.

The Stamford Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/2tSfOuA) patrol officers checked out an Audi in Stamford on Monday and arrested three men on charges related to carrying a pistol without a permit, and charges of possessing marijuana and stealing a firearm.

Twenty-one-year-old David Bates, 25-year-old Philippe Renard and 21-year-old David Wilkinson, all of Stamford, have been detained.

Police say all three men have denied ownership of the firearm, which was found fully loaded under the driver’s seat.

Police ran the gun’s serial number through the National Crime Information Center database and discovered it was reported stolen on New Year’s Eve 1983 in Quincy, Massachusetts.

A bag with 25 grams of marijuana was also discovered. Attorneys for the three men could not be immediately identified.
