A Shelton business was evacuated on Friday afternoon due to a small hazmat spill.

Police say that officers and firefighters responded to Milestone Inc., at 25 Controls Drive, after initial calls reported an explosion at that building.

However, when fire crews arrived, it was determined that there was no explosion. An investigation revealed that it was a small Hydrofluoric acid spill that occurred.

Vapor from the chemical then reached the ventilation system which caused the building to be evacuated, according to police.

There were no injuries reported.

Fire crews and Hazmat are expected to clear the building soon.
