Officials are conducting an inspection on Sunday after a damaged plane had to make an emergency landing in Stratford on Saturday.

According to officials, firefighters responded to Sikorsky Memorial Airport after crews reported a plane having landing gear issues.

The pilot reported a wheel malfunction to the control tower and a need to land the plane.

As the plane came down, crews on the ground applied a blanket of foam as the plane came to rest.

No injuries were reported and the airport was shut down until the aircraft was removed from the runway.

The cause of the malfunction is not known at this time.

Officials said the pilot’s execution of the emergency landing allowed the plane to sustain minimal damage.

The airport’s other runway is open at this time.
