A Weston man was killed in a car fire early Sunday morning after crashing into a utility pole and trees in Westport

Police say that shortly before 1 a.m., officers and fire crews responded to a large fire in the area of 57 Weston Road, where they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

The car had struck a utility pole and two trees, before taking down electrical wires.

According to authorities, 39-year-old Cullen Walsh died in the crash. An investigation indicates that speed and failure to negotiate the roadway were factors in the accident.

Weston Road was closed for a while while crews repaired the utility pole.
