Man in custody after Newtown homeowners found him naked in their house

Fairfield

A Watertown man is in custody after he was found naked in a Newtown couple’s home on Saturday morning.

Newtown Police said homeowners discovered Joseph Achenbach, 35 walking around their house naked when they returned home from shopping at around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.

They immediately left the house and called police. Officials arrived and arrested Achenbach a few minutes later.

Investigations determine that Achenbach pulled off of the road and crashed his 2018 Ford Escape into the victim’s backyard. He then entered the house through the unlocked sliding glass door.

His clothes could not be found and it is believed he was naked at the time of the accident, police said.

Achenbach received multiple charges including Criminal Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, and DWI.

Achenbach is being held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
