Motorcyclist suffers life-threatening injuries in Shelton crash


SHELTON, Conn. (WTNH)– A motorcyclist was seriously injured in the second motorcycle crash to happen in Shelton on Thursday.

Police say at around 7:15 p.m., officers responded to the area of Howe Avenue and Grove Street for a serious motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle.

The motorcyclist, 53-year-old Robert Freiler, of Shelton, was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with life-threatening injuries. His current condition is unknown at this time.

The accident remains under investigation. Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Shelton Police Department Traffic Division.Related: Route 110 reopens after motorcyclist seriously injured in Shelton crash

According to police, this is the second serious accident involving a motorcycle within a 1/2 mile of an accident that happened earlier that day near River Road on Route 110.

That motorcyclist was also taken to Bridgeport Hospital with serious injuries.
