PD: New Canaan social worker charged after providing marijuana, vape pods to juvenile

Fairfield

A social worker in New Canaan is facing charges after allegedly providing marijuana and vape pods to a juvenile under her care.

According to officials, in March, police were notified that 32-year-old Kelly Howard was making home visits to treat a juvenile.

During these visits, she allegedly provided the juvenile under her care marijuana and vape pods.

Authorities said a subsequent investigation confirmed this report and that Howard also failed to report potential incidents of neglect and/or abuse.

An arrest warrant was then issued and, on May 9th, Howard turned herself in.

Howard was charged with failure of mandated reporter to report abuse, sale of a controlled substance and sale or delivery of tobacco to minors.

She was processed and posted a $100,000 bond.

Howard will appear in court on May 21st.
