While residents will look to cool off during this intense spell of heat, not all state swimming areas are open.
On Tuesday, the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection announced that the swimming area at Indian Well State Park in Shelton would be closed due to the presence of indicator bacteria.
The water is being retested and officials will reopen the swimming area when conditions clear.
Wharton Brook State Park in Wallingford is also closed due to storm damage from May’s tornadoes.
