GREENWICH, Conn. (WTNH) – A truck driver was arrested by State Police for various weapons possession charges.
According to police, troopers stopped Carlos Echevarria, 37, came into the Greenwich weight station scale and was stopped for a routine credential check, when he said he had a handgun in his possession in the truck. Echevarria provided the location, which was a loaded .40 caliber handgun and was in an unlocked compartment behind the drivers seat.
Echevarria did not hold a Connecticut weapons permit, additionally he has a high capacity magazine, capable of holding 12 rounds and had a prior felony conviction.
Echevarria was taken to Troop G’s barracks for processing ans was held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 30th.
