New Britain council votes to keep Christopher Columbus statue in McCabe Park

Connecticut

(WTNH) — A final decision has been made Wednesday night on the future of New Britain’s Christopher Columbus statue in McCabe Park.

In December, the common council voted to remove the statue, but Mayor Erin Stewart vetoed the decision calling the “cancelling” of history, “preposterous.”

The council voted 8 – 6, sustaining the veto and keeping the statue.
