Berlin community coming together to help an officer in need

Hartford

The community in Berlin is coming together to help a police officer in need. More than 100 people came out tonight to a fundraiser for Officer Aimee Krzykowski.

The K-9 officer was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago. After treatment and surgery she recovered fully and returned to work.

This past summer the cancer came back. She will begin chemotherapy and radiation treatments next month.

“She has had our back on more than one occasion. Now we’re trying to have her back, and drum up some support for her while she’s recovering”, said Deputy Chief Chris Ciuci of the Berlin Police Department

Officer Krzykowski will be out of work until she is feeling strong enough to return.
