BRISTOL, Conn. (WTNH) — Bristol detectives are conducting their investigation and attempting to identify a woman who was killed in a burning car at Rockwell Park on Farrell Avenue Monday.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday morning on the victim at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington. Police told News 8 that the victim is believed to be a 45-year-old woman. Officers also said they believe the woman was a resident of Bristol, but she has not yet been positively identified.Original Story: Police: Woman killed in suspicious Bristol car fire

Firefighters were called to Rockwell Park around 10:45 a.m. for a large amount of smoke in the area.

Fire crews located the car on fire, and after they put the flames out they found the woman’s body inside.

Police said identifying the victim could take several more days as they attempt to match the victim through dental records. Officers also said that the official cause of death is still being determined.
