Camp bus involved in six-vehicle accident on Route 4 in Burlington

Hartford

A Camp Chase bus was involved in a six-vehicle crash on Route 4 on Friday morning.

A car lost control on Route 4 near the BurlingtonFarmington line and hit five other cars, according to police. One of the vehicles was a school bus with 13 Camp Chase campers and staff on board. No injuries were reported.

The driver of the DATTCO bus saw the car lose control and was able to steer the bus straight so the bus did not receive any major damage.

An ambulance did arrive at the scene to evaluate campers and staff. Camper’s parents were contacted and spoke to the children after the accident, according to the YMCA.

DATTCO visited Camp Chase to investigate and to determine if the bus driver and staff followed correct protocol. DATTCO will review video footage from the bus.
