Convicted felon arrested on weapons charges in Hartford

A Massachusetts man was arrested on weapons charges after allegedly threatening people in Hartford on Monday evening. 

Police say at around 5:17 p.m., officers responded to 106 Magnolia Street after it was reported that someone armed with a gun was threatening people. 

Upon arrival, officers found 39-year-old William Scott, of Springfield. During the investigation, police say they saw a firearm in plain view inside of the car that Scott was driving. 

According ot police, Scott admitted to possessing the firearm and was later revealed to be a convicted felon

Scott was then arrested and charged with weapons in a  motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm and threatening. 

Police also seized a Smith and Wesson .380 caliber handgun with six live rounds of .380 caliber ammunition as evidence. 

The incident remains under investigation.
