Crews on scene following manhole explosion, fire in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Eversource and MDC are on scene after a manhole cover explosion in Hartford Tuesday morning.

According to the Hartford Fire Department, at 11:20 a.m. there was a manhole cover explosion in front of 266 Pearl Street. They say the explosion led to a fire that happened inside the manhole.

Officials say the fire has been knocked down and crews have been cleared from the scene.

At this time Eversource and MDC crews are still on scene.

There is no word on what exactly caused this incident.
