Elderly man dies after being run down by his own vehicle

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hartford man was killed Monday when his own car rolled backwards onto him as he unloaded groceries.

Police were dispatched to 35-37 Merrill Street just after 1:00 p.m. Officers discovered the male victim pinned underneath the rear passenger side tire of an unoccupied vehicle. The 88-year-old victim, identified as Eusebio Coutinho, was transported to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hartford Police tell News 8 that Coutinho’s vehicle was running when it rolled back onto him.

There are no indications of foul play.
