EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A fire broke out early Friday morning at a multi-family home in East Hartford.

A passerby saw smoke coming from the roof of the home at 4:45 a.m. on Burnside Avenue, near Clark Street.

East Hartford Fire Chief Kevin Munson said there was fire damage to the basement, and smoke and water damage to the basement and first floor.

The home was being renovated at the time of the fire.

No one was injured.

Officials are working to determine the cause of the fire.
