Firefighters had to work against multiple challenges in East Hartford on Monday.
A fire broke out at a home on Sherwood Drive in the afternoon.
No one was home at the time and there were no injuries.
Fire Chief John Oates said it was an “uphill battle” when they first arrived.
“A fire in the basement in a private dwelling. A little bit of a challenge between the weather and the fact that this is the only street in town that doesn’t have fire hydrants made for a little bit of a challenge with water supply for the fire. Guys did a tremendous job and knocked it down quick,” he explained.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
