Fire officials respond to a two-structure fire in Hartford

Officials responded to a second alarm, two structure fire on Nelson Street in Hartford on Tuesday evening.

The fire started in a vacant brick house at around 6:30 p.m., and it spread to an occupied three-story white house.

The brick house has partially collapsed. The roof caved in on the white house. Flames were shooting about 25-30 feet int the air by the time the firefighters arrived.

One person is being treated for smoke inhalation, but there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Fire officials said both building are uninhabitable; six adults and one teenager are displaced.

The fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
