A Vernon man is facing charges after he allegedly forced a woman to engage in sexual relations against her will.
Police stated that on Tuesday, 26-year-old Robert Tate, a former West Hartford officer and a current nurse at Hartford Hospital, was arrested and charged with sexual assault, assault on a pregnant person and other related charges.
According to officials, in March, a woman sought medical help at a hospital in Worcester, Mass. The victim said that Tate overpowered her and forced her to engage in sexual relations against her will. She added that she was pregnant at the time with Tate’s child.
The victim then obtained a restraining order, which Tate allegedly did not fully comply with.
A search warrant was executed and police seized ammunition.
Vernon police are looking to speak with anyone who has information on Tate.
He is being held on a $150,000 bond and is set to appear in court on Thursday.
