Friends & family hold vigil for 16-year-old Felipe Lopez, pleads for killer to turn themselves in

The family of 16-year-old Felipe Lopez clings to one another, some too grief stricken to stand on their own.

The family said more than anything they want justice for their son, pleading for his killer to turn themselves in.

Filipe Lopez, a high school student in Windsor and a father to a baby girl, was found shot to death in a crashed car at the intersection of Albany Ave. and Signorney Street early Wednesday morning.

Tears rolling down the faces of family and friends.

“I didn’t believe it, a knock at the door, at five in the morning, I thought it was Filipe,” his mom said.

His girlfriend says he was home with her and their 9-month-old daughter. She said he told her he’d be back in 15 minutes… but never returned.

“My daughter can’t sleep without holding him,” his girlfriend said.

Lopez would have turned 17 on Friday.

Hartford police said they are still trying to piece many details of this homicide together. Nobody is in custody.

Windsor High School will have grief counselors on hand Thursday.
