It’s National Bike to Work Day!
The goal is to encourage people to try a healthier commute.
“Not only are you getting a good workout, helping you clear your head on the way to work, you’re also helping to solve climate change,” said DEEP commisioner Katie Dykes, who also participated in the morning ride into Hartford. “It’s an exciting day to highlight the many benefits in our communities when we find ways to move to work.”
For some West Hartford cyclists, the morning started at a new community resource coming to New Park Avenue, at the future home of Bici Co. It’s a bike repair shop that will offer youth programs, mechanic classes and more.
Cyclists from the Hartford area met up in downtown Hartford in front of the Old State House for a free breakfast before work. The Bike to Work Day celebration was put together by the city of Hartford and Bike Walk Connecticut.
Bike to Work Day happens on the third Friday in May.
