HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford Police are investigating a stabbing death on Irving Street Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called to the scene just before 3 p.m. Wednesday on a report of a male party stabbed. Police located the victim unresponsive, suffering from numerous stab wounds.
The victim, identified as Shedrack Bruff, 40, of Hartford, was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Hartford Police quickly identified the suspect’s vehicle during the investigation. And less than a half-hour after the incident, Major Crimes Division found the suspect and vehicle and took him into custody.
The suspect, Robert Smith, 38, of Hartford, was arrested and charged with murder. Bond is set to $1 million.
Police are investigating the incident as a homicide. Police said the two parties knew each other. They believe the stabbing happened after an argument.
It is the 16th homicide of the year in the capital city.
