Hartford PD: Man Arrested for Evading Fatal Crash

Hartford Police arrested a man Friday they say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian.

Officers were dispatched back on September 5th to the intersection of Albany Avenue and Garden Street. When they arrived, they found a woman in the roadway suffering from serious injuries.

Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that the vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene.

The victim, 47-year-old Chante Tucker of Hartford, died from her injuries the next morning at Saint Francis Hospital.

Earlier this month, officers located the vehicle involved in the crash, a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle was seized as evidence.

On Friday, an arrest warrant was issued for 24-year-old Kayvon Cook of Hartford. The Crime Scene Division of the Hartford Police Department later took Cook in custody. He is facing numerous charges ranging from evading the scene of an accident, to driving with a suspended license.

Cook is being held on a $100,000 bond.
