Hartford Police conduct South End “Quality of Life” Operation

Police in Hartford conducted what they call a “Quality of Life Enforcement Surge” throughout the south district of the city Thursday.

The goal of the operation was to address the concerns of city residents on issues pertaining to motor vehicle violations, among others. 

The enforcement team consisted of about 45 uniformed and plain clothed officers. Various divisions of the Hartford Police Department worked together on the operation.

Police have released the following statistics from the operation:

Motor Vehicle-

Verbal Warnings-                       55

Written Warnings-                       7

Infraction Tickets-                       36

Misdemeanor Summons-            24

Parking Tickets-                            3

Park & Walk-                                28

Directed Patrols-                         127

Arrests/Summons-

Panhandling-                                       5

Loitering-                                             3

Trespassing-                                       1

Narcotic –                                             6             

Warrants Served-                                9


Authorities also seized over 970 bags of heroin, 7 grams of crack, more than 2 grams of powder cocaine, 3 ounces of marijuana, and over $1,000 in cash. 

Hartford Police say these types “surge” operations will continue to take place in order to address ongoing concerns from residents. They say they’re planning an operation to address complaints from residents in the city’s north district. That “surge” is expected to happen in the near future.
